THE WINES - Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir - grown in the "lower valley" adjacent to the winery
planted by Steve in 1999
3 Dijon clones - 667, 777, and 115 on the "lyre system" no irrigation until after harvest

2006

The winery's maiden vintage - setting a serious presence

It takes some time with this one to learn where the shadows and light live.
Fruit banished to the outside, allowing the quiter tones of the earth that the vineyard grows in to be amplified.
Each clone was harvested and fermented separately cold soaked for 7 to 10 days and punched down 3x a day drained immediately after fermentation to control tannins.
1 year in 1/5 ratio of new to neutral French oak.
Minimal sulfur.
A 100 case project.

2007

Fruit much more forward - raspberry expression with high acidity

All clones harvested together for this vintage and fermented in our big French Oak Redoux Vat.
Cold soaked about one week
Pumped over 4 times per day.
Tasted  during maceration to monitor tannins and drained when just right.
A  200 case project.

2008

This Vintage was lost in a cellar accident.

2009 Back to harvesting and fermenting separately in puncheons.
Pinot Noir scheduled for bottling in Fall of 2010.
